Description:

Up for sale is an authentic antique Imperial German officer's dress sword dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, featuring a lion head pommel, ornate brass guard, and a wire-wrapped grip.

This ceremonial saber was likely carried by a German officer for parades and formal occasions during the Imperial period (c. 1870–1918).

The guard is brass with elegant floral detail, and the blade shows signs of age but is structurally solid. The sword comes with its original nickel-plated metal scabbard featuring a dual suspension ring — a feature typically seen on officer-grade sabers intended for formal military dress or ceremonial wear.

Markings:

  • Stamped symbols and inspection marks near the guard (see photos)

  • No visible maker name on blade, but likely Solingen origin

Measurements (approx.):

  • Overall length (in scabbard): 39.25"

  • Blade length: 32.25"

  • Grip: Wire-wrapped with floral rosette

Condition:

  • Blade shows wear, minor pitting, no major chips

  • Brass hilt has aged patina; guard secure

  • Scabbard has tarnish, typical of age, no major dents

A fantastic display piece for collectors of militaria, swords, or German history.
